Crystal name: Pink Halite
Origin: Owens Lake, Inyo County, California
Best known for: Emotional cleansing | Heart-soothing energy | Purification
Chakra: Heart (also subtly supports Crown for emotional clarity)
Care: Please do not allow Halite to come into contact with water or be kept in a humid environment - water and humidity will dissolve the crystal structures. Also keep out of direct sunlight to avoid fading.
Metaphysical properties and use:
Pink Halite carries a soft, nurturing vibration that promotes emotional balance, compassion, and calm. It is known as a crystal of gentle purification, helping to dissolve emotional heaviness, soothe anxiety, and create a sense of peace and safety. Unlike stronger cleansing stones, Pink Halite works delicately, making it ideal for sensitive individuals, children’s spaces, and bedrooms.
Energetically, it supports emotional release without overwhelm, encouraging self-love and forgiveness. It is often used to calm overstimulated environments, support restful sleep, and restore harmony after periods of stress or emotional strain.
Chemical composition: Sodium chloride – NaCl | Mohs Hardness: 2 – 2.5
Geological Formation:
Pink Halite forms through evaporite processes in ancient saline lakes and seas. As mineral-rich saltwater evaporates, sodium chloride crystallises into cubic halite crystals. The pink coloration comes from trace mineral impurities and microscopic inclusions of algae or iron compounds trapped during crystallisation.
Over time, these deposits are buried and preserved, producing crystalline masses and formations. Pink Halite is most commonly sourced from regions with ancient salt basins, including Pakistan, Bolivia, and parts of South America.
Feng Shui:
In Feng Shui, Pink Halite is valued for its cleansing and harmonising energy.
- Place in bedrooms to encourage emotional calm and gentle heart healing.
- Use in the Southwest (Relationships & Love) area to soften emotional tension and promote compassion.
- In shared living spaces, it helps absorb stagnant or heavy energy, restoring balance and tranquility.
Because Halite is water-soluble, it is best displayed in dry areas and kept away from moisture. Its soft pink tones also bring a subtle Earth-and-Fire balance, adding warmth and serenity to any space.
