Howlite is a calcium borosilicate hydroxide - a mineral composed of calcium, boron, silicon, oxygen and hydrogen that is found in evaporate deposits in sedimentary rocks. It forms in these rocks as irregular nodules that are sometimes referred to as 'cauliflower heads'.
