Aventurine is a form of quartz, known for properties such as its translucency and fuchsia (a type of mica) mineral inclusions, giving a shimmering or glistening effect when lights reflects from it called, aventurescence, hence its name. Aventurine is most commonly green, but it may also be orange, brown, yellow, blue, or grey. 

Aventurine forms in either igneous rocks or environments with geothermal waters. In igneous rocks, it forms as magma is released from a volcano as lava and cools, causing the silicon dioxide within to crystallise. Aventurine can also form in geothermal waters high in silica. High temperatures and pressure can cause the dissolved silicon dioxide to become saturated and crystallise.
