The type of mineral and shapes of crystals formed within it vary depending on temperature, pressure and what makes up the fluid during formation. During formation of a druzy, the tiny crystals of minerals form on the surface of another stone. There are many types of druzy, because there are many types of minerals. In this case, the quartz variety of amethyst crystals are formed on the surface of the jasper stone.
